Bajra

Bajra is one of the most widely grown types of millets in Indian sub continent since olden times. It is one of the major sources of food for the local villagers in the region. The crop is grown easily in the region due to its ability to withstand harsh weather conditions like drought and flood. The ovoid grains of 3 – 4 mm length bajra have the largest kernels of all varieties. They are available in white, pale yellow, brown, grey and purple color. The general height of the plant also ranges from 0.5 – 4 m.
